My professional achievements have been endorsed by numerous awards and accolades, including a Master Craftsman award which I received at the House of Commons. As a finalist, nominated for men’s category of ‘The British Hairdressing Awards’ and three times winner of ‘Black Hair & Beauty Barber of the Year’, I have been granted exclusive entry to the ‘Barbering Hall Of Fame’. I am proud to also be named amongst the first industry icons to collect the honorary PHAB (Performance in Hair and Beauty) Standard award. In 2014, I was bestowed the prestigious honour of being elected as Barbering Ambassador for the Hairdressing Council. I also won the first Most Wanted Male Grooming Specialist award in 2016. Selfridges was my next opportunity, and I was ready! Selfridges is a premium department store on Oxford Street in the West End of London. I had to start from the bottom being a junior, then a stylist at Hair Express, right up to be coming Creative Director of the Men's Salon At Selfridges focusing exclusively on men's hair. A journey that took 9 years, it was a great location to learn and master my craft. By this time, I was starting to win awards, but I still didn’t feel like I was fulfilling my potential.
I didn't give up my dream to work in Mayfair, now it was calling me, to a 5 star new male grooming emporium in Mayfair called Gentleman's Tonic. I was invited to become the head barber at Gentleman's Tonic helping it to establish and reinforce it’s five-star male grooming philosophy that has representation all around the world. So, what do you do once you are Creative Director in one of the most prestigious barbershops in London? Well, I kept striving until I reached the top of the hair industry, working at an entirely different level. You see, when I began my journey in this industry, barbers were not seen as session stylists. I wanted to break the mould. I wanted to prove to myself that I could shape a career which was completely unique to this industry and inspire the next generation of Master Craftsmen.
The tonsorial art of luxury male grooming was epitomised at The Harrods Barbershop. The Harrods flagship store in Knightsbridge is one of the world's largest and most famous department stores. A mecca for all things luxury. I spent 3 years here as a creative director and for The Refinery in Mayfair. The Harrods Barbershop was a grade 2 listed art deco building. This iconic barbershop oozed British heritage since its opening in 1916 till the year it closed in 2016. In its amazing 90 year history it was THE place that kept multiple generations of young gentleman wanting to look sharp. In it's heyday it had the Green Man Pub as a waiting room and had over 20 stations. I strongly believe if you are going to do something then do so at the highest level.
I strongly believe that UK barbering is truly the best in the world. It’s no coincidence that the oldest existing male grooming Emporium is based in London. My role as a Global Barbering Educator in the has taken me all over the world, including working in Chicago with global hair education brand, Pivot Point International, to consult on their new barbering programme.
EMPOWERING THE WORLD THROUGH EDUCATION
For more than five decades, Pivot Point has been a leader in beauty education, fostering over 1 million individuals on six continents, as they create sustainable careers within the hair and beauty industry.

Do you want to learn the secret of working with celebrity clients?
Working in India, at the Indian School of Hairdressing, in Mumbai. I shaped the new barbering programme in conjunction with The British Barbers Association, where my responsibilities include working as the Creative Director of the Association. With this prestigious association, I’ve toured North America and Canada, teaching in Vancouver, Toronto, New York and Miami, spreading the gospel of great British barbering whilst raising the standards globally. I had big dreams of becoming a session stylist, but this sort of opportunity does not come easy and might I add was virtually non-existent for a barber. 25 years ago, when I started barbering, all my hair heroes were hairdressers. Hairdressers travelled the world, worked in fashion – it was really sexy to be a hairdresser. Perhaps not so much a barber; a perception I wanted to change. I wanted to be pioneering that change – to live and breathe its evolution. I had a unique skill set and I knew that I could offer something different. So I spent a many years working on building a strong profile, getting ready for the opportunity. And boy did an opportunity come. I was asked to be the Creative Director of Hair for Ozwald Boateng OBE, one of the most famous British specialists in men's fashion. He was named Best Designer of Men's Clothes by British Fashion Awards, and was also awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Medal for his special contribution to the fashion industry. You too can make it happen. To learn the secrets of mega profile building techniques read my profile boosting blog.

A career high point was working as Creative Director for one of the largest menswear shows at London Fashion Week. With a world record-breaking 105 models, each model having an individual look. The show was created for the Savile Row designer Ozwald Boateng OBE. I still pinch myself at the achievement.

The ability to capture and incorporate the essence of emerging fashion trends has become increasingly in demand by editors in that sector of the press. Over the years, I have been instrumental in enabling the media to translate fashion trends and issues in men’s hairstyling and grooming, to stylists and the general public. As a result, my collections, advice and commentary have been syndicated across a wide variety of industry publications, including a regular column in Professional Hairdresser Magazine for over 7 years, in my role as Male Grooming expert.

In 2011 I had an idea. We were in the midst of a global recession but I wanted to create a product that would help others develop their barbering skills. The Foss Academy app was the UK’s first barbering education app, an educational tool that delivers concise and clear tutorials, tips and techniques. The Foss Academy app was nominated for ‘Innovation of the Year’ by The HJ Business Awards 2013 and 2015. Do not be afraid to do things first, put your service or product out there. Yes, we were in a recession and the time was not right, but I asked myself the question, “When is the right time…. what are you waiting for?” There will always be people trying to copy what you do, but be a constant innovator, continue to push those boundaries, focus on what’s in front of you rather than the people behind you. You see when I created the app it was my first introduction to the whole concept of passive income. This product allowed me to receive a four figure income every month. Don’t exchange time for money. You can make money while you sleep. I can help you do just that and turn your passion into a business. Product creation is the key.
Over the past 20 years I have worked in London’s West End as a Head Stylist at some of the most prestigious male grooming emporiums in the UK. During this time, my own philosophy on the world of elite grooming and ‘high fashion’ men’s hairdressing has greatly evolved. The Foss Academy was borne out of my passion to challenge conventional barbering education, cultivate stylists to offer elite services, and utilise revolutionary training methods to push creative boundaries. I have shared this philosophy all around the world.
Commissioned by Sassoon Academy to provide bespoke barbering education to their lead educators on a train the trainer programme. I was also invited regularly as a Guest educator to share my expert knowledge on male grooming to their students.

I had the pleasure of working on this amazing project with four-time Oscar-winning animation studio, Aardman Animations, to create the world’s first stop-motion animation film using beards. Created to mark the launch of the brand new Braun Styling Range, the Braun Beardimation video uses advanced stop-frame animation to take the viewer on a journey of eye-catching shapes, patterns and designs as they are etched into facial and body hair using the Braun styling tools. The video features faces, heads and chests of over 70 men to convey a scintillating story of precision that inspires creativity when it comes to shaving.
